Looking for a seat + pedal base solution (no wheel stand) for load-cell pedals on a desk setup

Hey everyone,
I currently have CSL DD 8nm bundle (CSL Pedals). Wheel is on a Moza table clamp, pedals are on the floor against the wheel base box (so they don’t slide backwards) and an office-chair with wheel stoppers, but I’m planning to upgrade to load-cell pedals soon and with the amount of force those require, I’m pretty sure my current setup won’t hold up — the pedals already kinda slide without being load cells and the chair with wheel stoppers would probably start moving too with that amount of force.

So for now I’m thinking about a solution that still keeps my PC desk fully functional for everyday use – a half-cockpit?: basically a dedicated seat plus a sturdy baseplate for the pedals, while keeping the wheel on the desk so I can easily slide it off when doing something else on the computer.

So my questions are:

  1. Would this kind of setup even work / be practical?

  2. What’s the best price-to-performance solution for a seat + pedal base only that’s doable for €400–500 max (but cheaper is obviously better)?

  3. Is there anything better than the Simsonn Plus X or Simsonn Pro X pedals for the same price?

Hey @Ledains, good questions.

What you are looking for is a wheel stand, since these are usually affordable and offer a stable, fixed platform for pedals and sometimes for the wheel or shifter. This solves the issue you are already running into with pedals sliding around or the chair moving when you brake harder, which becomes even more noticeable with load cell pedals.

A wheel stand or a simple pedal base paired with a fixed seat lets you build a half cockpit that gives you solid pedals and a stable seating position, while still keeping the wheel on your desk so the computer remains fully usable for everyday tasks. With a budget of around €400 to €500, stands like the Next Level Racing Wheel Stand 2.0 or other similar options provide enough rigidity for strong brake forces and leave some room for a seat or accessories.

On the pedal side, the Simsonn Plus X and Pro X are already strong choices for the price, and alternatives like the Asetek La Prima or basic load cell kits from other brands do not clearly outperform them at the same cost. As long as everything is bolted down properly and you have a seat that does not roll, the setup works well, feels stable, and gives you the upgraded braking performance you are looking for without sacrificing normal desk usability.

Ok, so I ended up buying the Plus X pedals with the rumble motors — should be really nice, especially with the current $45 Black Friday discount.

About the rig though… I’m honestly torn.

The pictures on their site look great, and I really like the idea of putting my office-chair wheels into that “holder thing” so the chair doesn’t move. And having the option to upgrade later with their GTSeat is tempting too.

But at the same time, the wheel mount part of the stand feels kind of pointless for my situation. The table clamp part of my setup is pretty flawless already, it shakes the screens a bit, but I haven't ever noticed it. Sure, I could take the wheel mount and shifter arm off since I drive formula anyway, but then I’m paying for metal that just sits in a corner which feels a bit wasteful.

So yeah… I guess I’m stuck between “this could solve all my stability issues” and “this is overkill for what I actually need.”
