How Max Verstappen Is Helping Sim Racers Turn Virtual Skill into Real-World Opportunity

In a recent interview on the BBC’s Inside Track podcast, Max Verstappen spoke about how modern technology has completely changed the landscape of motorsport talent development. He explained that today, highly skilled sim racers—regardless of whether they start with basic, entry-level equipment—can be discovered by his sim racing team, mentored, and given the chance to grow into competitive real-world drivers. Verstappen highlighted how this pathway allows talented individuals to “show the real guys that it doesn’t matter where you come from or what your background is.” He emphasised that the objective isn’t necessarily to create the next Formula 1 star, but rather to provide opportunities for anyone with genuine talent and dedication to pursue a professional racing career in any discipline. His comments underline a broader shift in motorsport: one where merit and passion can increasingly outweigh financial means or traditional entry routes.
