The Fanatec ClubSport GT Cockpit is the company’s newest and most premium sim racing rig to date, and after spending some time with it, I can confidently say it has surprised me in a good way. Built from tubular steel, it takes a different approach from the typical aluminum profile cockpits that dominate the high-end market. Despite my earlier skepticism about this style of construction, Fanatec has managed to deliver a design that is both sturdy and far more versatile than I expected.

Available in black or white, the ClubSport GT Cockpit stands out immediately thanks to its bold, curved design. My review unit came directly from Fanatec, and the first thing that caught my eye was the subtle green accents, likely a nod to Corsair, who now owns Fanatec and reportedly designed this rig before the acquisition. The design itself may divide opinions. Some will appreciate its futuristic curves, while others may find it overly bulky, but it is undeniably distinctive and functional.
Despite Fanatec’s claims of a “compact footprint,” this rig is anything but small. It is a large, commanding piece of hardware that dominates the room it sits in. However, the sheer size comes with benefits. Every key part of the rig, including the wheelbase, pedal deck, and seat, offers excellent adjustability without the need for tools. You can fine-tune the seat height, tilt, distance, and wheel position in seconds, which makes it ideal for households with multiple drivers of different sizes.

Fanatec has gone all in on functionality here. Integrated cable management channels are built into the tubular frame, keeping wires neatly tucked away. The cockpit also includes a built-in monitor stand, and Fanatec sells optional accessories that expand its versatility.
I tested three of these:
All combined, the cockpit I tested cost about $1,830, excluding the freestanding triple monitor stand. Adding Fanatec’s standalone monitor mount brings the total to roughly $2,180. This makes it one of the more expensive rigs on the market.
The Fanatec GT seat, which costs around $350, deserves special praise. It may not be the most visually striking seat, but it is easily one of the most comfortable I have ever used. The combination of breathable fabric and thick padding makes long racing sessions effortless. The seat’s shape supports your back and shoulders perfectly, and unlike some bucket-style racing seats, it does not feel restrictive.
Fanatec also offers matching single, triple, and quad monitor stands, further reinforcing their goal of creating a complete ecosystem for sim racers. The quality of these stands is excellent, and they integrate nicely with the cockpit’s aesthetic.
Once everything was assembled, the ClubSport GT Cockpit impressed me immediately with its rigidity and stability. With my Moza R12 wheelbase running at full torque, I detected no meaningful flex in the wheel mount. The pedal deck remained equally solid, even under heavy braking.
Compared to other premium cockpits I have tested, such as the Trak Racer TR160 and Sim-Lab GT1 Evo, the Fanatec rig performed equally well in terms of stiffness, if not better in vibration control. The thick steel tubing and well-engineered mounting points help minimize vibration transfer, which reduces noise and prevents unwanted movement during aggressive driving.
The shifter mount does exhibit slight flex when applying extreme force side to side, but only under unrealistic pressure. During normal use, it remains solid.

Against the competition, the Fanatec ClubSport GT sits in the same class as the Trak Racer TR160, Next Level Racing GT Elite, and Sim-Lab GT1 Evo. The key difference is that the Fanatec opts for a tubular steel construction rather than aluminum profile. While aluminum rigs tend to be lighter and offer endless modularity, the Fanatec’s pre-engineered system makes setup far faster and easier. It sacrifices some customizability for a cleaner look, more comfort, and fewer tools required. If you want a plug-and-play premium cockpit rather than a DIY-style platform, Fanatec’s approach is refreshingly straightforward.
The Fanatec ClubSport GT Cockpit is a high-end, ready-to-go solution that combines comfort, functionality, and rigidity better than most pre-assembled rigs on the market. It is not meant for those chasing maximum customization or minimal cost, but for buyers who value a professional, turnkey experience.
he only real downsides are the size and the cost of add-ons, which feel overpriced compared to what brands like Trak Racer and Next Level Racing offer.
Fanatec has clearly shifted its focus from only making wheelbases and pedals to offering complete racing ecosystems. The ClubSport GT is proof of that ambition. It is big, bold, and built to last. If you have the space and the budget, it is one of the most complete and comfortable racing cockpits you can buy today.
